Didi Chuxing, the world’s leading mobile transportation platform, is sponsoring the 2019 Transportation Forecasting Competition (TRANSFOR 2019) organized by ABJ70 Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Applications, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) under the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine of the United States.
TRANSFOR 2019, supported by the IEEE ITSS Technical Activities Sub-Committee “Smart Cities and Smart Mobility”, invites participants to submit predictions for short term traffic, utilizing the wealth of ride-hailing datasets from select Chinese cities made available through DiDi’s Gaia Open Data Initiative and identify possible solutions to deepen the current understanding of advanced computing, data preprocessing and traffic dynamics. Three finalist teams will present and compete for the grand prize at the 2019 TRB Annual Meeting, which will be held in New York in January 2019.
Launched in October 2017, DiDi’s GAIA Open Data Initiative currently offers a 50GB aggregated and desensitized dataset containing start points, end points and routing information from trips on DiDi Express and DiDi Premier, two of the company’s core personal mobility services. Researchers from Asia, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America have been applying AI tools to the dataset to discover patterns of urban traffic dynamics, predict traffic, and explore smart transportation solutions.
